Coway won reddot Design Award for the first time in Korean water filtration system industry (Mar. 9, 2007)
Coway became Korea's first maker of water filtration systems that have received Red-dot Design Awards of Germany. Together with German IF and US IDEA, Red-dot Design Awards has been acknowledged as one of the most prestigious awards for design in the world and referred to as Oscar for designs.
CHP-06DL/ER of Coway, the Red-dot Design Award winning model, is reputed for its compact size, reduced the existing CHP-05AL by 30%, and thus provides availability of space to the maximum. The silver color harmonized with lusterless white color on the front side adds to the luxuriousness of kitchen appliances and makes the kitchen a refined place. The model has also improved water-dispensing system to make it safer and more convenient.
With the winning of reddot Design Award following the winning of IF Design Award for its steam cleaner Cuchen in 2006, Coway won a worldwide recognition for design and established a new standard for water filtration system.
''The winning of Red-dot Award made us confident about global competitiveness of our designs for home appliances,” said Hunjung Choi, the chief of design team of Coway. ''We will bring out next time a product that can drastically change the existing design paradigm of home appliances,” he added.
The product developed aiming at the Japanese market will be launched to Japan at early April and in the first half of this year to Korea.
Red-dot Design Awards
Red-dot Design Awards, the world's most famous design competition, consists of three sectors: Red-dot Design Awards for product design, Red-dot Design Awards for communication design and Red-dot Design Awards for design concept. In 2006, about 6,000 works from 52 countries were submitted to the Awards to vie with each other for a prize. Products that won a prize at the Awards are exhibited at Red-dot Design Museum.
The winning of Red-dot Award, which is awarded through strict screening process by the judging committee consisting of world-widely famed designers based on utility, stability and originality, is the recognition for global competitiveness for design.
